Welcome DVMS Student Council 2012-2013!

Student Council is a nation wide organization that promotes valuable leadership and partnership between students and their school. It is an opportunity for the students to become effective leaders in school as well as in their communities, which then influences others in the school to become positive role models as well. Student Council is fostered by teachers and principals (advisers), but run solely by the students. Student Council members are willing to dedicate time to help come up with solutions to relevant current issues that may affect them or someone they know.

Last year, we raised over $1,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help find a cure for blood cancers.  This year, our goal is to raise more than $1500.  We also collected over 2000 toys for Brown Santa, raised $500 to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, and did service projects around the school like selling Teacher Turkey Feathers, Running the Valentine's Dance, and hosting Spirit Week.

We will be holding elections in September.  8th graders can run for officers.  Any 6th, 7th or 8th grader is invited to join Student Council to help make decisions for our school.
Please see Mrs. Thompson in room #506 for more information.
