When can students check out library books? |

Students may check out library books from 7:30 AM until 2:45 PM daily. |

How long can students borrow library books? |

Library books may be borrowed for up to two weeks. Students will receive an overdue notice if books are kept longer than two weeks. Students with overdue library books will not be able to check out additional books until the overdue books are returned. |

How many books can students borrow from the library? |

In order to check out books, students must not have any over due books. Students in kindergarten and first grade may check out one library book at a time. Second grade students may borrow up to two books. Students in grades three, four and five may check out a total of three books. |

What if my student damages a library book? |

A |
Accidents happen. All books in need of repair need to be returned to the librarian as soon as possible. If the damage to the book is minor and can be repaired, every effort will be made to repair the book. If the damage cannot be repaired then the book will need to be replaced. Students will be charged the replacement cost of the book. Students with outstanding charges will not be able to check out another book until the damage charges have been paid. |

What if my student has lost their library book? |

Please contact the librarian as soon as possible if a library book is lost. Lost books will need to be paid for before the student will be allowed to check out additional library books. Please take care that library books are kept in a safe place so they are not lost. |

Sure! Stop by the library and fill out a simple Parent Agreement Form. Parents may check out up to three books at a time for up to two weeks. |

What is a Bluebonnet book? |

The Texas Bluebonnet Award (TBA) reading program was established in 1979 to encourage Texas children to read more books, explore a variety of current books, develop powers of discrimination, and identify their favorite books.Texas students in grades 3-5 are invited to read a minimum of 5 of the 20 Bluebonnet book nominees for this school year to vote. Only students are invited to vote which means the winning book is chosen by students, not adults. Voting takes place in January. |

Can I volunteer in the library? |

Yes! Volunteers are always welcome.! All volunteers must complete a volunteer registration form in the school office and check-in before reporting to the library. Volunteers are needed to shelve books, monitor student check outs, be a guest reader or storyteller, help with RIF distributions, and help with the Scholastic Book Fairs in October and May. Contact the Hornsby Office or Library if you would like to volunteer. |
