Responsible Use Technology Agreement (RUTA pdf icon, formally AUP)

·What is the purpose?
Beginning July 1, 2012, schools’ Internet safety policies (AUP) must provide for educating minors about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms and cyberbullying awareness, as well as, include monitoring the online activities of minors. The district’s Acceptable Use Policy was revised in order to comply with the federal government’s Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA). In addition, in accordance with CQ (Local), an agreement to responsibly use the district’s network must be signed yearly and kept on file.

Digital Citizenship & CyberSafety Education

· What is the purpose?
To promote digital citizenship and cybersafety education for all Del Valle ISD students and staff, as well as ensure accountability for eRate funding and Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) compliance

Students and Professional Staff

· When is the deadline?
Principals must certify education of students and staff by January 2013

STaR Chart

·  STaR Chart Website

· What is the purpose?  
To ensure continuity of Texas Education Agency (TEA) funding, all classroom teachers and campuses are required to complete the Teacher and Campus STaR Charts. All Texas teachers/librarians must complete the Teacher STaR Chart online and use the profile annually to gauge their progress in integrating technology into teaching and learning. In addition, all campus administrators must complete the Campus STaR Chart.

Teachers/Librarians and Administrators

· When is the deadline?
Teachers/Librarians must submit the Teacher STaR Chart by the first few weeks of November 2012 and Administrators must submit the Campus STaR Chart by the end of November 2012.

NCLB Administrator Assessment

·   What is the purpose?
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has been required to report on the progress of districts regarding technology. TEA uses the NCLB Technology Reporting System to collect data, such as administrator’s technology proficiencies and the number of unduplicated computers on campuses. The 8th Grade Technology Literacy Exam is also part of the NCLB submission. The data is aggregated and forwarded to the United States Department of Education.

Campus Administrators & 8th Grade Students

· When is the deadline?
Part 1 and Part 3 are to be completed by the campus administrator by May 2013. Part 2, which is the 8th Grade Technology Literacy Assessment, must be completed by May 2013.

5th & 8th Grade Pre and Post Technology Literacy Assessment

·   What is the purpose?
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has been required to report on the progress of districts regarding technology. To get accurate data on students' technology skills, an online assessment for elementary and middle school students provides data to help meet accountability requirements, pinpoint students' technology challenges, and identify best teaching strategies.

· Who is affected?
All students in grades 5 and 8

· When is the deadline?
The 5th & 8th Grade Technology Literacy Pre-Assessment must be completed by December 2012. The 5th & 8th Grade Technology Literacy Post-Assessment must be completed by May 2013.

FitnessGram

·  FitnessGram Website

·  What is the purpose?
The Texas Education Code (TEC), §38.101 and §38.103, requires school districts to annually assess the physical fitness of students in grade three or higher in a course that satisfies the curriculum requirements for physical education at least once annually and submit the results to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) each school year.

Students in grades 3-12

·  When is the deadline?
All FitnessGram data must be entered by May 2013
