Del Valle ISD is a great place to be! We have a lot to be proud of at Del Valle and I am excited about this upcoming school year. Not only are we successful academically, but we are able to provide our students and their families with first class facilities and we have a community that steps-up to assist and enrich the education of our students.
Preliminary scores for the 2008-2009 school year has Del Valle ISD listed as a Texas Education Agency Recognized district! We will have two Exemplary campuses: Smith and Popham Elementary Schools and six Recognized schools: Baty Elementary, Creedmoor Elementary, Del Valle Elementary, Hillcrest Elementary, Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary, and Del Valle High School. These gains academically are a direct result of our 99% graduation rate of seniors. Our students, teachers, and all the support staff are to be commended for staying the course in reaching our goal of graduating students with a first-class education.
As mentioned above, we are on track to open two new facilities this year as we promised the Del Valle ISD taxpayers with the 2007 Bond package. We are excited to open the doors of the new Opportunity Center in the fall to not only our students, but to the parents and community with adult education classes. We will be working together with ACC to provide these classes to our community members- more detailed information will be on our website around the end of August.
We have a lot of partnerships with community organizations who come in and provide enrichment activities or services for our students. The Badgerdog Literary program, The UT Performing Arts Center, ACC, The Junior League of Austin, The Meadows Center, St. David's Dental Program, and the Austin Jazz Workshop are just a few of the many organizations we work with that both our students and staff benefit from. Del Valle ISD is fortunate to be able to work with and learn from these groups.
The 2009-2010 school year is gearing up for continued success at Del Valle ISD. We employ quality staff and are fortunate to have volunteers, adopters, and mentors who stay the course and continue to work with us year after year. I look forward to sharing our shining moments with you this upcoming year.
