The Del Valle Child Nutrition Office is located on the Smith Elementary School Campus in portable 408, 4209 Smith School Road.

Del Valle ISD Child Nutrition Services participated in the School Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program, After School Snack Program (At Select Campuses) and Seamless Summer Feeding Program. These programs are means to provide nutritious meals to children. They contribute to a better understanding of good nutrition and better eating habits. Research has proven that students who are well nourished perform better in school. Federal reimbursements are received for meals served to students that meet the following requirements.

For breakfast, meals must provide one-fourth of the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA's) for the following nutrients: Calories, Protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Iron and Calcium. In addition calories from fat must average 30% or less weekly and saturated fat 10% of less weekly.

Lunch meals served for reimbursement must provide one-third of the RDA's for the following nutrients: Calories, Protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Iron and Calcium. In addition calories from fat must average 30% or less weekly and saturated fat 10% of less weekly.

In addition no single item that we served can contain more than 23 grams of fat per serving with the exception of one item per week which can not exceed 28 grams.

Menus are planned with our students tastes and preference in mind. Student participation is closely monitored and charges are made as needed.
