I'm delighted to announce that our efforts this past school year to focus on math, science, and reading instruction have resulted in Hillcrest Elementary achieving Recognized Status from the state education agency.

At Hillcrest Elementary we open our doors to 700 students every morning who aim for daily Pride in Progress. This allows teachers to reach all children of all levels and backgrounds.

Mornings find students participating in art club, choir, student council, library assistance team and peer mediation. After school students are seen studying hard and working in small groups to achieve higher academic standards as well as participating in chess club, and school dances. Students also have the opportunity to perform musicals, holiday plays, historical dramas and presentations.

Hillcrest teachers and staff members pride themselves in their collaborative approach to planning and teaching. The appreciation for the dedication to our students by our staff members can be seen in the smiling faces of parents, students and community members.

In addition to achieving our Recognized Status this year, Hillcrest has in the past received many local, state and national awards. Among those are the following:
